Even though most of us have an idea what we would do if we had almost unlimited space on our patio – many of us do not have that luxury. If you have a smaller patio, but still want to make the most of it, we have a few different suggestions that are going to help you make the most of your outdoor space.
Tip #1 – Vertical Plants
If you have a small, walled-in patio, you do not have a great deal of space to dedicate to plant. Instead, bring life to your patio with narrow planting containers and planting beds in addition to trellises. Those are going to allow you to spruce up the area without needing much room.
Tip #2 – That Table Can Go Up Against The Wall
You might not have the traditional table surrounded by chairs when you have a narrow patio – but no bother. Instead, place the table near the edge of your patio and it will look like clever design while also allowing you some more space.
Tip #3 – Mix And Match Those Shapes
By matching the shape of your patio with the shape of your table, you are maximizing the available space of your patio. A small round patio would work perfectly with a round table and some chairs. This is going to make even a smaller area feel larger.
Tip #4 – Softer Lighting
If you have the one light that feels like a spotlight in your outdoor area, it might ruin the nighttime patio enjoyment entirely. You can create a much more pleasant mood with softer lighting on the ground. This is going to make the entire area seem larger. Alternatively, a cozy fire pit is going to take up some room, but make up for it in ambiance.
Tip #5 – Use Large Scale Objects
You have a small patio – so you should only use small things right? That is where you might be wrong. An oversized ornament could become the focal point of a much smaller patio – which means that you are going to draw attention to the object rather than focusing on the area.
Tip #6 – Built-Ins Might Be The Option
When you have a smaller patio, space is always at a premium. By using a built-in bench in your area, you are going to have two birds in one stone. It allows for functional room within the patio. This is going to allow you to make the most of your area.
