Being outdoors is great, but doing it in style is even better. If you want to add style to your outdoor area and protect yourself from the sun at the same time, we have a few different options that are going to be sure to impress. We offer you various options from rather expensive, to extremely affordable.
Option #1 – Integrated Shading
If you have plenty of budget and the architecture of the house allows it, an integrated cover is an awesome idea. It will make your covered outdoor space usable during excess sunshine, but also during the snow and rainy season. This is just a great way to add value to your outdoor area.
Option #2 – Cloth
A cloth option is easily created and will not cost you a tremendous amount of money. You can make sure that the rainwater falls off the cloth, if you place the cloth at an angle. If you do leave it up during the rain, pitching the material is essential; if you forget to pitch the material it could rip or stretch the fabric if rainwater gathers in the middle.
Option #3 – Pergola
A pergola might not be a ‘traditional’ solution, but you can easily customize a pergola in style of costs, size, and style. You can make a pergola look as though it is part of your home, with rafters, purlins, and columns. One of the drawbacks is that you will need a permit to build it, and they are quite expensive. Fortunately there are a few finishing options that you can go for that will cut down on maintenance.
Option #4 – Umbrella
An umbrella is great for your deck or your patio and they are not going to cost you a great deal. You can enjoy your lunch or dinner in the shade with a simple umbrella and a few chairs and a table. If you are going to get an umbrella, get one that is freestanding; a freestanding umbrella can be easily moved in different directions.
Option #5 – Lattice
You can add a tremendous touch to your outdoor area by adding a lattice. You want a lattice made from durable wood: teak, redwood, or cedar. When you opt for this cover you are going to benefit from some tremendous shade, but you are also going to make your outdoor area even more inviting than it was before.
